Bag Your Summer Crush

What is it about the summer that puts us in the mood for love? Maybe it's all the extra flesh on show or the sun making our brains go all funny, all we know is that we've set our sights on that lifeguard/ boy at the park / (insert crush’s name here) and we want to make him ours.

Step 1: Identify the crush

If there is one guy that you just LIVE to see over the summer, and when you catch a glimpse of him your heart starts pounding and your legs go wibbly wobbly - then this is your crush.

Step 2: Assess your chances of meeting
Some of you might see your crush every day while for others a crush sighting is as newsworthy as aliens landing in your garden. If you see your crush often you'll have lots of opportunities to bag him. If you rarely see him, then anytime you do you must seize the opportunity for lurrrve!

Step 3: Do some research
Male friends that are willing to help are be a great advantage as they might know him or his friends. Do some investigative work on your crush - have a nosy on Facebook or Google.  Find out what your crush does for fun and where he likes to hang out and then get yourself there pronto!

Note: We're not encouraging you to become a stalkers we just want to help you maximise your hook up potential!

Step 4: Ready, Steady, Go!
What are you waiting for? Get out there and meet him. take a mate for back up, muster up all your courage and remember: You are amazing so why wouldn't he want to get to know you?

Step 5: Flirting Tactics

Walk past him and try to catch his eye. Maybe say 'Hi' and give him a smile or try to strike up conversation if you're brave enough. You don't have to resort to show off tactics to get his attention. Subtle flirting is the key.

Challenge yourself to be brave enough to talk to him or dance near him (only if you're at a party or disco - otherwise you'll just look weird!) You don't want to spend the rest of the summer thinking 'what if...'

Note: Fingers crossed he's everything you thought he would be. Amazingly when you meet someone you've crushed on from afar they can be a big let down - sometimes the fun of the chase is better than the catch.

Step 6: Be prepared
Go see the latest movies or read up on them, eep an eye on the sport and watch a few episodes of CSI. As long as you have a few things that you could potentially talk to him about, conversation won't get awkward.

Step 7: Make a move

If you feel like your head might pop off with excitement and your crush is the most amazing person like, ever - then make a move. Make it clear that you like him by asking for his number, or asking what his plans are for the weekend.

If get the feeling he's not interested then cool it and leave it to him to ask for your digits. If he doesn't, wait to see how friendly he is the next time you meet. If he's not overly chatty then you may have to forget about this crush. If he makes a beeline for you then he may have been too shy to make a move before.

Step 8: You should have a date!
Hurrah it worked! It's best not to tell him the exact lengths you went to get close to him. (Befriending his 7 year old sister and exchanging sweets for information would be one example.)

If it didn't work -  keep your eyes open for other opportunities. The boy of your dreams might be trying these 8 steps to get YOUR attention.
