TOWIE talk
TOWIE’s Lucy and Mario have had a pretty turbulent time on the show. Heck, it's one of our fave things about it! But the pair are totes loved up these days and all swaddled in romance, so we pounced for a quick chat and the cute couple had us going ‘awww’ in minutes. We chatted about series 4, Twitter haters, getting up close and personal with McFly, and Mario’s romantic streak. Bless! Plus they answered some of YOUR love dilemmas!
TOWIE series 4 is out on DVD NOW!
Hi guys! So we've got some pocket money, why should we spend it on the new DVD?
Mario: Well, it’s funny, there’s drama. You don’t just have to watch it once you can watch it over and over again, it’s funny!
Obviously it’s quite an explosive series for you guys, was there a highlight in there somewhere?
Mario: For me it was the first date where I done in the restaurant. I did that for Lucy, it was really romantic and it was nice to sort of spoil her, treat her like a princess, what with everyone else watching as well.
Lucy: That’s probably mine as well, it’s really boring but it was, because we genuinely hadn’t seen each other since everything happened. What you saw was our first time meeting again. Yeah, I really liked it and I loved my red dress as well.
Joey falling about in a onesie on roller skates was HILARE! Will we be catching either of you rocking a one in future?
Mario: I do wear onesie’s at home. But I just look like a stubbly baby in one. It’s not really a good look for me to leave the house in!
Do you ever sit down with a cuppa and watch it back?
Mario: Yeah, I cringe everytime.
Lucy: Yeah, we can only watch it once, and then we’re like ‘oh that’s enough, can’t watch it again.’
Mario: When I first came on TOWIE I didn’t tell anyone that I was going to be on it. So I literally had the boys over to play FIFA, so they said ah ‘let’s put The only way is Essex on’, and as soon as I came on, the boys were like ‘what the hell?!’ My friends went absolutely mental. So if there are some scenes which are shocking you, are you like texting the other guys? Saying ‘OMG I’ve just seen you do this.’
Mario: Yeah literally, if I see something funny, like we saw the other night with Joey and Sam and their helicopter date, that’s just amazing. I text Joey straight away saying ‘Yeah that’s just swagger, that’s amazing.’
You’ve had to deal with some stuff on Twitter recently, how do you handle it?
Mario: Well, you have to grow a hard skin, grow a thick skin.
Lucy: I think it is hard. At the beginning it was really really tough for me, and I think Mario as well, because you have to let them go over your head. You know they wouldn’t say that stuff to our face. And they’ve taken time to put stuff like that, do you know what I mean? We’re just getting on with our lives, So it doesn’t really bother me anymore. I just let it go over my head.
Mario: If you genuinely hate someone, or don’t like them, then you don’t generally talk about them. I know I never do if I don’t like someone. I never take time out of my day to talk about them. So if they say something on Twitter, I think they’re secret fans.
Not long now ‘til the big McFly wedding! Excited? (Mario’s sister Giovanna is marrying Tom from Mcfly)
Lucy: Yeah, I can’t wait. I’m really unorganised, me and Mario’s mum are going hat shopping tomorrow. Yeah I’m really looking forward to it.
Mario, are you all suited and booted?
Mario: Yeah, well I’m a tailor, I’m one of the ushers. I’ve made the bands’ and all the other ushers’ suits. I haven’t done my own yet, I’m hoping to do that tomorrow. But I’ve done all the band, I fitted them all the other day.
Now Mario we know you’re a bit of a romantic, so what’s the most romantic gesture, out of all of them Lucy, that he has done for you?
Lucy: Oh My God. Oh I’ve thought of one! When he lived with his mum, I got in and his mum was like ‘oh Lucy, I can’t believe you’ and I was like ‘what?’ And his friends were like ‘oh Lucy what have you done?’ And I was like ‘what have I done? What have I done?’ Then when I found Mario he sort of shook his head at me, and then handed me some Laboutins! My first pair of Laboutins.
Too cute! Now as you’re such a lovely couple, we thought you could answer some of our readers love problems.
Here’s one from Laura, she says, ‘my boyfriend and I argue all the time, I feel like I’m always moody with him, but I think he is quite snappy with me too. What can I do about it, I don’t want to split up?’
Lucy: I think they need to have a proper sit down, and talk about it, and if they’re being snappy with each other, then what is it that’s annoying each other. And learn, to know when you’re doing that. Because we’ve had that before haven’t we?
Mario: Yeah
Lucy: We’d snap at each other, and the other would say ‘just think about what you just said.’
Mario: The thing with snapping, people will snap if they’re not happy, they’ll snap if they’re tired, you’ve got to stay confident.
Marie asks, ‘I like my best friend’s boyfriend, and he equally likes me too. Our feelings are really strong, how can I make my friend understand?’
Mario: Go on girl!
Lucy: No! I just think that it would never work, I think you’re going to loose a best friend, and is a boy worth loosing a best friend over?
Mario: Yeah, I joke, it’s a no go zone.
And Jo asks, ‘I really like this boy at school, but he doesn’t know I exist, how do I appear on his radar?’
Mario: I’d say just walk rounds school, make eye contact, flick your hair, you know, the usual. Get him interested, flirt with a boy, flirt with his best mate.
Lucy: Get your friend, to ask his friend.
The last one from Dana, she says I have a boyfriend, but I kissed another boy at a party, should I tell him?
Lucy: Yeah, I think if he loves her then he’ll understand, the best thing is to be truthful, and then get past it.
Mario: He’ll always find out sooner or later, so you’re best of telling him before he finds out.
