Scouting For Girls
We know how much you love Scouting For Girls which is why we mange to grab band member Greg for a quick natter. Read our interview with him below and find out what snack puts a smile on his face...
So, we're loving the new single Famous. Are you talking about anyone in particular with that track?
No, it’s more of a kind of celebration of the times that we live in. Twenty years ago you hardly stood a chance of getting yourself out on telly or anything like that. Now, there’s so much amazing reality TV out there. I mean obviously some of the shows are a bit, a bit on the dodgy side but it’s amazing where we have got, it’s awesome.
Your new album is called Everybody Wants To Be On TV and we agree with that because we secretly want to be in Glee. If there was any cameo on a TV show that you could like be involved in, what would it be?
Ooh, that’s a tricky one. I would love to have a cameo in South Park. A little cartoon character of the three of us, I reckon would be really funny. I love that show.
Whose your favorite character in South Park?
I'd have to say Stan. He’s definitely my favorite.
Is Stan the one in a blue hat?
Yeah, I’m a big fan of the wooly hat. I don’t actually have a wooly hat with a red bobble on it but I think I’m going to have to make that purchase for next winter.
Is that your fashion tip for mybliss.co.uk? The wooly hat is in.
Oh yeah, definitely. Talking about the wooly hat – glasses and long hair too.
Ha ha, we're loving it! Going back to your fans, have you had any seriously crazy fan moments?
We’re lucky enough, I think, not to have any amazingly freaky fans or anyone who does anything vaguely weird to us, you know. Yeah, our fans are all so lovely. They send us things like chocolates and cupcakes.
Aww, that's cute!
I’m a personal fan of cupcakes in any form or variety. We’re lucky with the fans we have.
You're a fan of cupcakes?
Oh yeah, I do love a good cupcake! It's as much sugar and goodness and yumminess in one little cake.
Ha ha, so the sweeter the food the better?
Yeah. I’m blessed with a very fast metabolism so I can eat as much as I want and still remain stick thin – it’s great!
Going back to your song title, what’s the best thing about being famous? And what’s the worst?
It’s quite weird. We don’t really consider ourselves to be famous as individuals you know. Everybody knows our band Scouting For Girls but we can quite happily walk down the street without being recognized and harassed by the paparazzi.
Have you ever used your fame to your advantage?
No, that would be far too cheeky. We'd never dare to just in case people had no idea who we were!
Aaah, we doubt that would ever happen. So, what festivals will you guys be at this year?
Quite a few. We've done Oxygen Festival and T in The Park up. We’re playing at the V Festival too.
Will you all be camping out together?
No way. If I've got festival tip, it's always get a tour bus!
A tour bus?
Yep! You have your own nice clean toilet, you’ve got your own nice bed and you’ve got some lounges and a TV and all the comforts of home. It's absolutely awesome. I recommend it to everyone, seriously, take a tour bus to a festival.
Hmmm, we're not sure we have the pop star budget! So along with that you're not going to have to be putting up with smelling anyone’s pongy socks that they’ve been wearing for like three days.
No I’m not. My socks will probably pong though because I refuse to wash at festivals.
Err, what?
That’s the thing you do when you go to a festival – isn’t it?
Really?
Yeah!
No washing at all? We're not sure about that...
Well you know, a couple of wet wipes and deodorant. What more does a boy need?
Do you try to pick up any girls when you go to festivals?
No, we’re all about the music.
Well, we can't imagine you'd have much luck if you didn't wash for days! Talking about girls, what’s your perfect song for a first date?
Oh God! First date with a girl?
Yep, you’re bringing her back to your place. You’ve arranged some delicious cupcakes and you’ve made sure your socks are washed.
Ha ha! Well, I think it would have to be a bit of Stevie Wonder. You can’t beat a bit of Stevie – he’s got some awesome tunes and he’s just so smooth.
Now, just one last question. The most serious question of the lot.
Go ahead...
If you could be any biscuit – what would you be?
Ooh, I’d be a Jaffa Cake. I love Jaffa Cakes!
Scouting For Girls' new single, Famous, is out now!
