Camp Rock's Alyson Stoner

GIRL TALK!

Camp Rock cutie Alyson Stoner gives us the lowdown on the ace animation, Phineas And Ferb

Hi Alyson! Can you describe your character in Phineas And Ferb?
I provide the voice of Isabella Garcia-Shapiro on the show. She is the leader of the Fireside Girls and she has a mad crush on one of the lead boys, Phineas.

What do you like about Isabella?
I love the way that she is a surefire, confident girl. She’s always positive and she’s constantly helping others.

Do you have any input into the crazy stories in the cartoon?
The creators pull the storylines from their actual lives, so if there was a funny gag they experienced in real life, it usually turns into a new episode. Maybe if something extravagant or crazy happens in my life, I’ll give them the idea and see if they can use it.

Is it difficult to record the voice for a cartoon?
They give me a lot of freedom with my character, so I find it a lot of fun. I can be as imaginative as possible, which is really cool.

Have you had any bloopers in the recording booth?
I usually go into the sound booth fully prepared – but I recently had a scene where I had to say “black box” and I kept getting it wrong. It kept blurting out of my mouth as “black buck”. I tried it about nine times, but I could not spit out the right words! It was really embarrassing.

Have you ever thought about becoming a pop star or musician?
I’m actually working with producers and songwriters in the hope of pursuing that avenue at the moment – but I’m waiting for the right time. It’s all about timing with me. I don’t want to rush anything.

Do you write your own songs?
When it comes to my music, I will definitely be a part of the writing process. I think that helps any singer or artist connect with the song more and believe in it. If you’re forced to sing something you don’t really believe in, it sounds like a dud. I don’t want to do that.

What do you like to get up to when you’re not working?
I love to try out new things. I like to explore and I’m very adventurous, just like Phineas and Ferb. Hopefully I’ll build a rollercoaster in my backyard just like them one day!

What are your favourite cartoons?
I really enjoy Phineas And Ferb. I think it’s hilarious and I try to watch it whenever I can.

What cartoons did you watch when you were little?
I used to be a Rugrats fan – but then I got to be on Rugrats. It was kind of like a childhood dream come true. I had a really cute and funny part, which was very cool to record.

We can’t let you go without talking about Camp Rock… Did you have fun filming with the Jonas Brothers?
Definitely! Working with the Jonas Brothers was amazing. They’re such genuine guys who are a lot of fun to be around.

So what would you like to see happen in Camp Rock 2?
I’d like to see my character take her music producing to the next level in Camp Rock 2. Maybe the original Camp Rockers should go up against a rival camp? That would be cool! I don’t know what’s happening with it at the moment, so I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

Series 2 of ‘Phineas and Ferb’ premieres on Disney Channel at weekends 11.20am from Saturday 4th April and every Friday at 5.10pm until 19th April.
